Karate Tournament in Türkiye: Kazakhstan Concludes with Two Golds and Three Bronzes
The WKF Karate1 Premier League - Antalya 2024 tournament for adults has concluded in Antalya.
About 400 participants from 60 countries took part in the competition, where only the top 32 athletes in each weight category competed for the global ranking. Fourteen Kazakh karateka participated in the tournament, clinching two golds and three bronzes.
Meldir Zhanbyrbai (50 kg) secured gold in the kumite category. In the under 55 kg category, Bella Samasheva did not compete.
Nurkanat Azhikanov, the champion of the Asian Games, won bronze in the under 75 kg category, defeating competitors from France and Belgium but losing to a Turkish athlete in the quarter-finals. He triumphed over a French opponent in the battle for third place.
Meldir Zhanbyrbai expressed his joy after the victory: “It is a great honor to compete under the anthem of Kazakhstan at international competitions. I am happy. Thanks to everyone who supported me! Go Kazakhstan!”
Recall that earlier, Sofia Berultseva also won bronze at the tournament in Türkiye.
