Kyrgyzstan is carrying out a determined and systematic campaign against corruption and organized crime, President Sadyr Japarov said at the 4th National Kurultai held in Bishkek, Kazinform reports.
Japarov described corruption as a destructive force that weakens state institutions, undermines public trust, and hinders economic progress. He stressed that the reforms launched by the government will continue until tangible results are achieved.
“If you steal — you go to prison. If you misuse public property — you go to prison. If you give or take a bribe — prison awaits you. Everyone is equal before the law,” the president stated.
He emphasized that the fight against organized crime goes beyond targeting individual gangs. The authorities aim to dismantle the long-standing hidden systems that allowed criminal networks to operate and expand.
According to Japarov, continuous efforts by security bodies, prosecutors, and the police have returned hundreds of billions of soms to the national budget, funds previously siphoned off by criminals and corrupt officials.
The two-day kurultai gathered 690 delegates from across Kyrgyzstan, including migrant workers living abroad, representatives of ethnic communities, cabinet members, MPs, and officials from state and local bodies.
