Jakov Milatovic wins presidential elections in Montenegro

Montenegro's former Economy Minister Jakov Milatovic declared victory in a presidential election run-off on Sunday,

Early projections of election results at Montenegro’s presidential runoff vote suggest Montenegro’s former minister of economic development Jakov Milatovic won, defeating incumbent Milo Djukanovic.

According to the reasult of the Montenegrin Center for Monitoring and Research on the basis of counting 98 percent of the ballots (CeMI), Europe Now candidate Jakov Milatovic received 60 percent of the vote in Montenegro’s runoff presidential election on Sunday.

Analysts said the results could change slightly as the vote count progresses but that the gap between the two is too wide for major changes.

“This result is an indicator that the final result won’t be substantially different,” said Nenezic.

After the results of the run-off, admitting the defeat in the presidential election Milo Djukanovic, he congratulated Jakovic on his victory.
