Iran Offers Modern Irrigation Technologies to Kazakhstan

Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov recently met with Ali Akbar Joukar, the Ambassador of Iran to Kazakhstan, to discuss sharing advanced irrigation technologies, according to the department’s press service.

The discussions focused on exchanging experiences and technologies to minimize water losses during transportation and crop irrigation.

Iranian companies are prepared to supply Kazakhstan with modern irrigation systems that utilize groundwater and automatic drip irrigation systems, which deliver water directly to plant roots. These technologies have enabled Iran to significantly reduce water consumption for rice cultivation while increasing yields.

“We have started extensive work on building and renovating reservoirs and other water management structures. Iranian companies have vast experience in this field and are developing effective technologies. Some are already active in Kazakhstan, such as in the Zhambyl and Turkestan regions, where irrigation networks are being upgraded. I invite Iranian businessmen to participate in tenders for the construction and repair of our water infrastructure,” said Minister Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
