Iran intend to train Kazakh farmers in rice cultivation technologies
Iran is interested in the supply of Kazakh rice in large volumes. This was announced during a meeting of representatives of the Iranian business delegation with the Almaty business community at the site of the regional chamber of entrepreneurs, basagro.kz reports.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation in the trade and economic sphere and the establishment of business contacts.
The director of the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the city of Almaty Aituar Koshmambetov, he noted the long-standing business relations between the two countries.
“In 2022, during the visit of our president to Iran, it was stated that mutual trade could grow to 3 billion over the next three years if the existing opportunities are realized. Kazakhstan has introduced a visa-free regime for Iranian citizens for a period of 14 days. All these measures are already showing results,” Aituar Koshmambetov said.
According to the speaker, at the moment, out of the declared volume, the mutual trade turnover is $500 million, in order to reach $3 billion, more mutually beneficial projects are needed.
In turn, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Iran said that the country is interested in cooperation, for this the governments of the countries create favorable conditions. Today, Iran produces 150 million tons of agricultural products per year. The greenhouse industry is also developing dynamically, and Iran exports ready-made greenhouse solutions to Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and the countries of the Caspian continent.
Meanwhile, Iran has needs that Kazakhstan can satisfy. This applies to cereals, for example, Iran’s annual demand for corn is 8 million tons, about 3.5 million tons of grain, from 800,000 to 1 million tons of rice, 4.5 million tons of soybeans.
