
In value terms, imports dropped by 72.5%, while in volume they fell by 68.2% compared to the same period in 2024. Over this two-month span, Iran imported 923,000 tons of goods worth $980,000 from Turkmenistan — down from 2.9 million tons valued at $3.57 million in the previous year.
The main imports from Turkmenistan included petroleum coke, cotton, textiles, and other materials.
Interestingly, while imports declined, non-oil trade between the two countries reached 251,000 tons, valued at $83.4 million — showing a 13% increase in value and 2.4% in volume compared to last year.
Overall, Iran’s non-oil imports for the same period stood at 5.92 million tons worth $8.47 billion — a 7.8% decline in value, but a 1.16% rise in volume.
Iran continues to prioritize domestic production and restricts the import of goods that are produced locally.
