Iran Begins Deploying Naval Mines in the Strait of Hormuz

Tensions are rising around the Strait of Hormuz after reports that Iran has started deploying naval mines in the area.

According to the United States Armed Forces, several Iranian military vessels were destroyed near the strait, including 16 mine-laying boats. The information was released on the military’s official page on X.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that dozens of mines have already been placed in the strategic waterway in recent days, citing unnamed sources.

One source told the broadcaster that Iranian forces are capable of deploying hundreds of mines in the area if necessary, which could significantly threaten maritime traffic through one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes.

Earlier, former United States President Donald Trump stated that a military operation against Iran was nearing completion.
