Interim Government Assumes Office in Bulgaria

Bulgaria's provisional government officially commenced its duties following an oath-taking ceremony held in parliament.

According to reports from Anadolu Agency, a special session convened in parliament to administer the oath to members of the interim cabinet formed by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev.

The government, comprised of the Deputy Prime Minister and 19 ministers, took their oaths during the session.

The primary objective of the government is to oversee the organization of early elections to the Bulgarian National Assembly and the European Parliament, scheduled to take place simultaneously on June 9.

Following the oath ceremony, attended by President Rumen Radev, renditions of the Bulgarian national anthem and the European Union (EU) anthem filled the chamber.

During the playing of the EU anthem, lawmakers from the Vizraidane (Revival Party), known for their pro-Russian, anti-NATO, and anti-European stance, staged a protest by remaining seated.

Given the persistent political volatility in the country, Prime Minister Glavchev’s administration marks the seventh government to assume power in Bulgaria over the past three years.
