Import of Infected Flowers from Türkiye Halted
A shipment of flowers infected with western flower thrips was discovered at Astana Airport.

During quarantine phytosanitary inspection and oversight at Astana’s International Airport, inspectors from the State Inspection Committee in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan identified a batch of flowers from Turkey carrying the quarantine pest—western flower thrips.
A total of 15,000 flowers were confiscated and subsequently destroyed by burning, in accordance with a court decision.
