Huawei Holds Regional Meeting in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan's Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, participated in Huawei's semi-annual regional meeting for the Middle East and Central Asia, held in Tashkent. The event brought together executives and managers from over 20 of the company's representative offices.

At the meeting, Minister Shermatov praised the decision to host the annual event in Uzbekistan, highlighting the country’s rapid digital growth and its emerging role as a regional leader. He emphasized Uzbekistan’s favorable business environment for international IT companies and its growing reputation as a prime location for major international ICT events.

The minister stated that Uzbekistan has established all necessary conditions for international IT companies to thrive. The country is well-positioned for hosting business process outsourcing (BPO) offices and organizing regional and global events.

During the event, Huawei’s leadership learned about the current “Zero Risk” program, which offers various benefits to residents of IT Park Uzbekistan. The program is designed to support businesses in Uzbekistan and aims to attract more international companies to the country.

Discussions also covered the potential expansion of one of Huawei’s five global resource centers located in Uzbekistan. By transferring project development for the Middle East and Central Asia to the Tashkent office, Huawei plans to increase its workforce, boost Uzbekistan’s IT service exports, and solidify the country’s status as a regional IT industry hub.
