Heads of Turkic States to Meet in Bishkek

On November 6, Bishkek will host the 11th summit of leaders from the Organization of Turkic States. Expected participants include the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, along with the Prime Minister of Hungary and the Secretary General of the Turkic Council.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will arrive in Bishkek after his official visit to France on November 5-6. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan arrived in Bishkek on the evening of November 4, and today, November 5, leaders from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan are also expected to visit.

During the summit, key documents related to Turkic Council projects in areas such as economy, trade, digital transformation, transportation, and security are set to be approved. The leaders will also exchange views on pressing international and regional issues.

On November 4, President Erdoğan departed from Istanbul to participate in the summit, as reported by official media.

“President Erdoğan took off from Istanbul’s Atatürk Airport at 1:20 PM local time to attend the summit,” the report stated.

Earlier, Muratbek Azymbakiev, head of the foreign policy department of the Kyrgyz presidential administration, announced that a bilateral meeting between the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Türkiye would take place during the visit. Additionally, the sixth meeting of the High Council for Strategic Cooperation is also on the agenda.

This marks President Erdoğan’s first visit to Kyrgyzstan since 2018.
