Lawyers representing the child on behalf of Türkiye’s Ministry of Family Affairs demanded the maximum penalty. They argued that Burnashkina deliberately entered a restroom for people with disabilities with the intention of abandoning the baby. However, the defendant claimed she had no malicious intent and simply used the nearest available restroom.
Ekaterina’s mother insists that neither she nor her daughter knew about the pregnancy. Now, she wishes to return to Russia with her grandchild, who was left in the airport. However, the fate of the child will be decided separately.
It is worth noting that Ekaterina gave birth on October 13. On the day of her flight to Russia, she experienced severe abdominal pain, visited the restroom multiple times, and eventually gave birth there.
