Hamas Proposes 135-Day Truce in Gaza
Hamas proposed a 135-day truce in Gaza, offering Israel a cessation of hostilities in the region.
According to Reuters, Hamas put forward this plan with conditions including the release of hostages and the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.
This proposal comes in response to a mediation effort led by Qatar and Egypt, which was approved by Israel and the USA. Tel Aviv has yet to publicly respond to the Hamas proposal.
The truce plan outlined by Hamas involves three phases, each lasting 45 days, with provisions for the exchange of hostages and the conducting of indirect negotiations.
Additionally, Hamas seeks an increase in humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza as part of the ceasefire agreement. Previous reports indicated that Israel and Hamas had reached a tentative agreement on a truce involving the exchange of prisoners, with mediation efforts ongoing by Qatar, the USA, and Egypt.
