Growing Demand for Kazakh Language Courses in Türkiye
Interest in learning the Kazakh language is on the rise in Türkiye.
The first Kazakh language course was launched last year at the Language Teaching Center of Ankara University. In just one year, more than 50 participants completed the program and gained fluency. The students include not only university learners but also professionals from various fields and young researchers exploring Kazakh culture.
Despite busy schedules, many make sure to attend every class. Remarkably, the lessons are taught by a Turkish instructor who, though not ethnically Kazakh, is well-versed in the country’s traditions and conveys them during lessons.
“I have been learning Kazakh for a year and can now speak fluently. Since it shares similarities with Turkish, it wasn’t difficult to master,” said Hayat Deniz Iltash, a PhD student at Ege University.
Some learners go further by writing poetry and even singing in Kazakh. As a result, the number of Turkish speakers confidently using the Kazakh language continues to grow.
