Georgia-Tajikistan trade increased by 81% in January-July 2023

Trade between Georgia and Tajikistan increased by 81% in the first seven months of 2023, reaching $22.17 million, Turanews.kz reports.

According to data from the National Statistical Office of Georgia, the majority of trade between the two countries was conducted by road, with $20.884 million worth of goods being imported from Georgia to Tajikistan by this mode of transportation. This was followed by rail, with $994,230 worth of goods being imported, and air, with $255,150 worth of goods being imported.

The trade balance was in Georgia’s favor, with the country exporting $22.098 million worth of goods to Tajikistan and importing only $172,000 worth of goods.

The increase in trade between Georgia and Tajikistan is likely due to a number of factors, including the growing economies of both countries and the increasing political and economic cooperation between them.

The two countries have signed a number of agreements in recent years, including a free trade agreement and a visa waiver agreement. These agreements have made it easier for businesses and people to trade and travel between the two countries.

The increase in trade is also likely due to the growing demand for Georgian products in Tajikistan. Georgian wine, mineral water, and fruits are particularly popular in Tajikistan.

The strong trade relations between Georgia and Tajikistan are a positive development for both countries. They help to boost economic growth, create jobs, and improve the lives of people in both countries.
