Gas Theft Worth $10 Billion: Foreigners Detained in Kazakhstan

Two citizens of Uzbekistan have been apprehended by Zhambyl police in Kazakhstan, who were previously listed as wanted individuals across borders, as reported by polisia.kz.

On April 3, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of Zhambyl Region conducted operational search activities in the territory of T. Ryskulovsky District, leading to the detention of the suspects. The individuals were identified as wanted criminals on an interstate wanted list.

The two Uzbekistani nationals are suspected of involvement in a significant gas theft operation, estimated to be worth over 288 billion soums (equivalent to 10 billion tenge), in the Samarkand region of a neighboring state.

Following their apprehension, the men were placed in a temporary detention center and are awaiting extradition to the authorities initiating the search.
