Football legend Pele passes away at age 82

Legendary Brazilian football player Edson Arantes do Nascimento known mononymously as Pelé has died at the age of 82. His daughter announced the death of the legendary football player on December 29 on social networks, Turanews.kz reports.

At the end of November, Pele was hospitalized for treatment of the respiratory infection aggravated by the coronavirus. He also needed an adjustment in therapy in connection with an oncological disease. In early December, the Brazilian media reported that chemotherapy was no longer helping Pele, and he was transferred to palliative care. A week ago, his condition seriously deteriorated.

Pele is the only player in history to have won the World Cup three times with the national team (in 1958, 1962, 1970). In total, he played 92 matches for the Brazilian national team, in which he scored 77 goals.
