Food Safety Agency suspends activities of Volt Azerbaijan LLC for food safety violations

The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan has suspended the activities of Volt Azerbaijan LLC for violating a number of food safety requirements, Turanews.kz reports citing Trend.az.

The agency conducted a scheduled inspection at a food delivery (transportation) enterprise owned by Volt Azerbaijan LLC and found that the company was operating in violation of the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Food Safety”.

Specifically, the company was not registered with the Food Safety Agency, it did not observe hot and cold chains when delivering food products to consumers, it transported products in violation of the temperature regime and the rules of commodity neighborhood, it did not disinfect its facilities, and its employees did not undergo a medical examination.

Due to these violations, the Food Safety Agency decided to suspend the activities of Volt Azerbaijan LLC and to apply restrictive measures against its employees.

The agency also conducted an unscheduled inspection of Volt Azerbaijan LLC to verify the status of implementation of the decision to suspend activities. During the audit, it was found that the company had not eliminated the violations and was still operating.

In accordance with the requirements of the law, the Food Safety Agency decided to re-apply the restrictive decision to suspend the activities of Volt Azerbaijan LLC. The agency also took appropriate measures against the responsible person of the LLC.

The Food Safety Agency called on the heads of public catering enterprises to ensure the transportation and delivery of food products to consumers only by food subjects that have registered and temperature-controlled equipment (vehicles), and to implement this activity only by persons in contact with food products who have passed a medical examination.

The agency said that it will continue to take action against businesses that violate food safety regulations in order to protect the health of consumers.
