Kazakhstan has discovered and registered five new mineral deposits containing nearly 100 tons of gold, the Vice Minister of Industry and Construction announced during a government meeting, Qazaqstan TV reported.
According to him, geological exploration has increased the country’s reserves by 98 tons of gold, 36,000 tons of copper, 11 million tons of manganese, and 1.3 million tons of phosphorites. Currently, Kazakhstan has about 10,000 deposits and 103 types of registered mineral resources.
The government plans to expand the explored subsoil area to 2.2 million square kilometers. So far, 2.014 million sq. km have been studied, with the goal of reaching 2.038 million by the end of the year. To improve exploration efficiency, future surveys will be conducted at a 1:50,000 scale.
Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized that the President has identified the strengthening of geological exploration as a national priority. He instructed the relevant ministries to complete the digitization of geological archives by the end of the year and to begin construction of a modern laboratory within the Geological Cluster in 2026.
