Five Kazakh Tennis Players to Participate in the US Open

The US Open tennis tournament kicked off today in New York. This year, five tennis players representing Kazakhstan will take part in the Grand Slam tournament.

Alexander Bublik, ranked 27th in the world, will be the first among the Kazakh athletes to take to the court. He will face 19-year-old Chinese player Zhuncheng Shang, who is ranked 77th globally.

Alexander Shevchenko, ranked 60th in the world, will compete against German Dominik Koepfer, currently ranked 80th. Meanwhile, Timofey Skatov, who qualified for the main draw through the qualifiers, will face a strong opponent, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz, ranked 7th in the world.

It is worth noting that last year, all three Kazakh women tennis players lost in their first matches.

Among the women, Elena Rybakina, ranked 4th in the world, will take on Australian Destanee Aiava, ranked 194th. Yulia Putintseva, ranked 32nd, will play against 19-year-old Czech rising star Linda Noskova.
