First Tourist Train from China to Arrive in Almaty on July 1

The first tourist train from Xi'an, China, is set to arrive in Almaty on July 1, carrying 246 passengers in nine carriages, according to a press release from Kazakhstan Temir Zholy NC JSC.

Negotiations for the train’s launch were held between the management of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) and the mayor’s office of Xi’an, People’s Republic of China (PRC).

The parties agreed to start the journey from Xi’an on June 26, 2024, with the train expected to arrive in Almaty on July 1. The route will pass through the Khorgos-Altynkol border crossing.
