First Books Printed in the Common Turkic Alphabet Presented in Ankara

In Ankara, TURKSOY and the Turkic Academy unveiled the first literary works printed using the newly adopted Common Turkic Alphabet, consisting of 34 letters, TuraNews.kz reports.

The inaugural publications include:
• Qara Sözder (The Words of Wisdom) by Abai Qunanbaiuly
• Aq Keme (The White Ship) by Chyngyz Aitmatov

Adopted in September 2025 in Baku as part of efforts by the Organization of Turkic States to strengthen linguistic unity, the new alphabet is described as a “spiritual bridge” bringing Turkic peoples closer together.

TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev and Turkic Academy President Professor Shahin Mustafayev said the launch marks a forward-looking cultural milestone and a significant step toward redefining shared identity. They noted that scholars may one day consider this moment a “historic turning point.”
