The pool of individuals aspiring to contest in Azerbaijan’s upcoming presidential elections has now reached a total of 15 candidates, according to an announcement by Mazahir Panakhov, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission. Panakhov disclosed this information during a meeting of the Central Election Commission, as reported by Trend.
As of now, the candidacies of seven individuals have received approval, while the commission is currently deliberating on the endorsement of the remaining eight candidates. This update follows President Ilham Aliyev’s decree on December 7, which declared early presidential elections in Azerbaijan. The forthcoming elections are scheduled to take place on February 7, in accordance with the presidential order.
