On April 17, the opening ceremony of the Festival of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan organized in cooperation of TURKSOY with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Uzbekistan and the Academy of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan took place in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.
In the opening ceremony attended by the Secretary General of TURKSOY Mr. Sultan Raev, the President of the Academy of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan Akmal Nur as well as famous painters, lecturers and students from various regions of the Turkic World attended the ceremony held whon laid a garland at the Memorial of Kamoliddin Behzod.
In his speech TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev said: “The Academy of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan, which has been operating for many years with the same purpose as TURKSOY, organizes various events with the participation of many artists from abroad. Today’s festival is just one of these events. I wish our festival to be auspicious and I wish success to our valuable participants in advance. As you know, April 21st, is celebrated with great enthusiasm every year as “Painters’ Day” in Uzbekistan. On this occasion, I would like to congratulate all our painters with my most sincere wishes.”
The Secretary General Raev further expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan and all contributing institutions for hosting the festival.
The President of the Academy of Fine Arts Akmal Nur who also took the floor at the ceremony and expressed his gratitude to TURKSOY Secretary General Sultan Raev for his support, said: “This year, our festival, which we traditionally hold every year, has a special significance. Indeed, this is the first time that we are holding our festival in cooperation with TURKSOY, the International Organization of Turkic Culture. Thanks to TURKSOY, our painters from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Turkmenistan are actively participating in this colourful event which takes place with the participation of painters from Hungary, South Korea, France, Russia, Belarus, Belarus, Thailand and Israel. Our festival raises great enthusiasm not only in Tashkent but also in 12 other cities of Uzbekistan at the same time”.
The opening speeches were followed by a short concert and a fashion show featuring traditional garments manufactured by students.
After the ceremony, Secretary General Raev handed over the “Medal of Akhmet Baytursynulu” to the famous painter Mussapir Zhanuzak from Kazakhstan for his contribution to culture and art in the Turkic World.
The festival which will go on until April 22, will feature various exhibitions in all branches of fine arts as well as master classes and sightseeing tours for artists coming from abroad.
