Ashimov was a towering figure of Kazakh national culture and a symbol of pride for the entire Turkic world. His life’s work enriched Kazakhstan’s cultural heritage and helped elevate Kazakh art on the global stage.
His unforgettable roles in Kyz Zhibek, The End of the Ataman, Sarkyrama, Trans-Siberian Express, The Herald, and others became cornerstones of Kazakh cinema. As a director, he also made a major contribution with works distinguished by artistic depth and vision.
The burial will take place later today at the Kensai-1 cemetery.
