Exhibition on Central Asian and Mongolian culture opens in European Parliament

An exhibition dedicated to the culture of Central Asia and Mongolia is taking place in the European Parliament building in Brussels. The exhibition features unique elements of the traditional life of peoples, picturesque paintings, and photographs of the natural landscapes of the region, Turanews.kz reports.

The exhibition was opened by a ceremony attended by diplomats, deputies, employees of European institutions, and journalists. Speakers at the ceremony emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation and understanding between Central Asia, Mongolia, and Europe.

Tomasz Zdekhovsky, head of the European Parliament delegation for Central Asian countries, said that this is the first time in the history of the European Parliament that representatives of all countries of Central Asia and Mongolia have gathered. He expressed pride in the interest in the culture and heritage of the region, and noted that relations between Europe and Central Asia are improving.

Karsten Luecke, MEP, said that Central Asia is an important and dynamic region, and that European countries should become close partners. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in areas such as connectivity, transport, and climate change. He also said that soft power, such as relationships between people, is very important, and that it is important for young people from Europe to visit Central Asia and vice versa.

Among the exhibits of the exhibition are unique elements of the life and culture of the peoples of Central Asia and Mongolia. Kazakh diplomats also presented ancient European maps depicting the Kazakh Khanate and other peoples of the region.

Margulan Baimukhan, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium, noted that holding a major cultural event in the European Parliament confirms the importance of the initiative to jointly promote the tourism brand “Central Asia”.

Dilyor Khakimov, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Belgium, said that Central Asia has become a region that gives the world great positive hopes for economic, cultural, and humanitarian development and cooperation. He also noted that the region is home to countless cultural and architectural monuments.

A major event to jointly promote the tourism opportunities of Central Asia, the XXV session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, will be held in Samarkand in October.
