Borrell’s visit will commence in Kazakhstan on August 1, where he will spend two days engaging in key diplomatic discussions. He is scheduled to meet with Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murat Nurtleu, for a bilateral meeting, followed by a joint press conference. Additionally, Borrell will meet with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss further collaboration between the EU and Kazakhstan.
The European External Action Service highlighted that this visit will serve as a crucial opportunity for the EU to reaffirm its commitment to enhancing relationships with both Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as with the broader Central Asian region, amid a complex geopolitical landscape.
On August 3, Borrell will continue his diplomatic tour in Kyrgyzstan, where he will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev. He is also expected to have separate discussions with Boobek Azhikeyev, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Emergency Situations.
