European Union Extends Sanctions Against Russia Until 2027

The European Union has prolonged its sanctions regime against Russia for another year, extending the measures until 24 February 2027. The decision was published in the EU’s Official Journal and entered into force immediately.

In its statement, the bloc emphasized that Russia’s actions violate fundamental principles of international law, particularly the prohibition on the use of force and the requirements of international humanitarian law.

Brussels noted that as long as Moscow continues to breach international norms, maintaining the full range of restrictive measures remains justified. The extension signals the EU’s continued commitment to its current policy course regarding Russia.
