Representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs held negotiations with experts from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs, Kazinform reports.
According to the Dunyo Information Agency under the MFA, the parties discussed potential visa facilitation measures for Uzbek citizens. During the meeting, several mandatory requirements were proposed to the Uzbek side. Once these conditions are met, the issue will be included on the agenda of an upcoming European Commission meeting.
Following the talks, the EU and Uzbekistan agreed to swiftly fulfil their mutual commitments and to hold regular bilateral consultations on the matter.
As a reminder, Uzbekistan will introduce a 30-day visa-free regime for U.S. citizens starting 1 January 2026. Additionally, the visa-free agreement between Uzbekistan and China entered into force in June of this year.
