Erdoğan: Türkiye stands by Iran in fight against terrorism,

Following the horrific terrorist attack in Kerman province, Iran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reached out to his counterpart, Ibrahim Raisi, to offer condolences and unwavering support.

In a phone call held today, Erdogan condemned the senseless attack on civilians and assured Raisi that Türkiye stands firmly with Iran in the fight against terrorism.

“This despicable act of violence against innocent people has shocked us all,” Erdogan stated through his administration’s communication department.

“We stand by Iran during this difficult time and offer our deepest sympathies to the families of the victims”, he said.

Emphasizing the need for joint action, Erdogan reiterated his call for Iran and Türkiye to collaborate in combating terrorism. Both leaders agreed to postpone Raisi’s official visit to Türkiye, initially scheduled for tomorrow, to allow Iran to focus on recovery and internal matters.

The twin explosions near the tomb of Qasem Soleimani on January 3rd claimed the lives of 103 people and injured 211 more. This tragic event occurred four years after Soleimani, a prominent Iranian general, was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad.
