Erdogan Hints at Possible Bid for Presidential Election
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has suggested that he might run in the upcoming presidential election, sparking widespread discussion across the country.
The remarks came during the 8th congress of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in Şanlıurfa. Following his speech, renowned Turkish artist and singer İbrahim Tatlıses asked Erdogan whether he would consider running for president again.
With a smile, Erdogan responded, “If you support me, I am ready,” prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience.
While the president has not made any official statements about his political plans, his comment has already generated significant debate within political and public circles.
Presidential advisor Mehmet Uçum stated that Erdogan’s potential re-election would be legally possible if Parliament decides to hold early elections in the second half of 2027. Such a scenario would ensure that the process fully aligns with the country’s legal framework.
