Emergency declared in Kyrgyzstan as Naryn river floods

The Toguz-Toro district of the Jalal-Abad region in Kyrgyzstan has declared a state of emergency of the III degree due to flooding from the Naryn River, Turanews.kz reports.

The water level in the river has risen sharply, threatening 200 houses, 16 hectares of farmland, and the airport runway.

The district civil protection commission has been alerted, and a meeting of the headquarters chaired by the regional head of civil defense A. Syrgabaev and the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations A. Zakirov has decided to introduce an emergency mode of the III degree.

Work is underway to correct the riverbed, and equipment has been involved in the effort.

The authorities are urging residents to stay safe and to follow the instructions of the civil protection commission.
