Electricity tariff for households to increase by 29.9% in Kyrgyzstan
A new electricity tariff will be introduced in Kyrgyzstan from May 1, 2023. The Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers issued such a resolution for public discussion, Turanews.kz reports citing Inform.kz.
According to the document, in order to reliably and continuously provide the population with electricity in the event of a shortage, the tariff, which has not changed since 2015, is proposed to be increased by 29.9% from from 77 tyiyns to 1 (from 0,0088 USD to 0,011 USD) som per kilowatt-hour.
At the same time, the limit of the monthly amount of electricity consumption will increase from 700 to 1500 kWh, if this limit is exceeded, a fee of 2.16 soms (0,025 USD) will be charged per 1 kilowatt-hour.
For citizens of the country living in high mountain areas and remote areas, the monthly discount limit of 1500 kWh of electricity consumption will not be set.
For low-income families with children up to 16 years of age and receiving monthly social benefits “Uy-Bulogo Komok”, the electricity tariff will remain at the previous level of 50 cents/kWh (about 2.56 tenge), and the consumption limit will remain up to 1,500 kWh per month.
Electricity tariffs will change every year, taking into account the inflation rate.
