Eight Children Die from Measles in Kyrgyzstan in Two Months

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Edil Baisalov, has reported that the measles situation in the country is extremely alarming.

Since the beginning of the year, 3,739 cases of measles infection have been recorded, resulting in the deaths of eight children.

— A major measles outbreak is being observed across the country, and the situation has become critical. Last year, six deaths were recorded, while this year, in just January and February, the disease has already claimed the lives of eight children. This is unacceptable. Every regional leader must sound the alarm and take the situation under personal control. We must intensify mass vaccination efforts to protect our children’s lives and health, — emphasized Edil Baisalov.

The Ministry of Health has been instructed to develop a comprehensive emergency plan to contain the outbreak, ensure strict monitoring, and supply sufficient vaccine stocks for rapid response in all regions.
