According to the “National Scientific Center for Seismological Monitoring and Research” of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan, the earthquake occurred at 3:23 AM local time.
The epicenter was located 264 kilometers southeast of Almaty, in Chinese territory. In Almaty, the intensity of the tremors was measured at 2 on the seismic scale, according to the official report.
