Earthquake Strikes 275 km from Almaty

At 07:17 on February 28, an earthquake was detected by the seismic stations network of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The quake’s epicenter was pinpointed 275 kilometers southeast of Almaty, situated within the borders of China.

Classified with an energy class of 9.9, it registered a magnitude MPV of 4.4, with coordinates of 41.16° N. latitude and 78.78° E. longitude, and a depth of 5 kilometers.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of perceptible tremors within Kazakhstan, according to the MSK-64 scale.
