Earthquake jolts Kyrgyzstan
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 struck Kyrgyzstan on September 5, 2023, at 6:18 AM local time. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 400 kilometers southwest of Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan. The earthquake had an energy class of 10.0 and a depth of 10 kilometers, Turanews.kz reports.
There were no reports of injuries or damage from the earthquake. The earthquake was felt in several cities in Kyrgyzstan, including Jalal-Abad, Batken, and Osh.
The SOME seismic center, a subsidiary of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as needed.
