Dozens of crocodiles escape from animal farm in Southern China

Dozens of crocodiles escaped from an animal farm in Maoming, Guangdong Province, China, after flooding caused by Typhoon Haikui, Turanews.kz reports.

The lake where the farm is located overflowed its banks, releasing 75 crocodiles into the surrounding area. Some of the crocodiles were captured alive, while others were shot or electrocuted by local authorities.

So far, only eight crocodiles have been caught. Residents of nearby villages have been asked to stay at home as a precaution.

Typhoon Haikui has been sweeping through southern Asia for more than a week, causing widespread damage. The typhoon has already caused the death of seven people and left three others missing.

The escaped crocodiles are a serious threat to public safety. Siamese crocodiles, the species that escaped, can grow up to three meters long and weigh over 75 kilograms. They are also known to be aggressive.

Rescuers are using sonar equipment to search for the remaining crocodiles. They are also using nets and traps to try to capture them.

The authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and report any sightings of crocodiles to the authorities.
