Death Toll in Japan Earthquakes Reaches 92

The death toll from the ongoing earthquakes in Japan has risen to 92, according to data from regional authorities, TuraNews.kz reports.

Emergency services are grappling with the challenge of locating 242 people who remain missing. The latest information indicates that over 250 residents have sustained injuries of varying severity due to the earthquakes and their aftermath. A comprehensive search and rescue operation, involving the Japan Self-Defense Forces, is actively underway in the affected area. Notably, on January 4, rescuers successfully located an elderly woman who had been trapped under rubble for more than 72 hours.

Ishikawa Prefecture has borne the brunt of the devastation, with over 250 houses destroyed, and an additional 200 buildings lost to fires. Local authorities emphasize that the provided data is preliminary, as the assessment of the damage continues in the affected areas.
