Kazakh couriers and taxi drivers will pay taxes from July 1 as part of a pilot project of the Ministry of Finance. Participation in the project is optional – so far only those who wish can participate, Turanews.kz reports.
To participate the project, it’s necessary to register as an individual entrepreneur and submit the relevant documents to the online platform. Operators will monthly withdraw 1% of the semi-annual income. If the individual entrepreneur (sole trader) is already operating, then it changes the tax regime.
“By decision of an individual entrepreneur, the operator is recognized as a tax agent in terms of fulfilling obligations to withhold funds. For participants in the pilot project, the object of taxation of mandatory pension contributions and social contributions is the income of such an individual entrepreneur in the amount of one minimum wage, the object of taxation of contributions to compulsory social health insurance is income in the amount of 1.4 times the minimum wage” the press service of ministries of finance said.
According to the agency, there are more than 500,000 couriers in Kazakhstan.
The concept of the pilot project appeared after the birth of various online platforms such as Yandex, Uber Wolt and Glovo.
