Conference League: Astana and Tobol Set to Play Their First Matches

Kazakhstan's teams, Astana and Tobol, are gearing up to play their first matches in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.

Astana will face off against the Moldovan team Milsami at 21:50 Kazakhstan time, according to Kazinform.

Milsami, founded in 2005, won the Moldovan championship in 2014 and has claimed the national cup twice. The team’s head coach, Igor Picusciac, previously led Kazakhstan’s club Akzhayik to the final of the Kazakhstan Cup.

In 2012, Milsami was defeated by Kazakhstan’s Aktobe (4-2, 0-3) in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.

Meanwhile, Kostanay’s Tobol will play an away match against the Swiss club St. Gallen at 23:00 Kazakhstan time.

St. Gallen, established in 1879, has won the Swiss championship twice, in the 1903/04 and 1999/2000 seasons.

It’s worth noting that in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, Tobol secured victory over the Slovak club Ruzomberok with an aggregate score of 3-2 (1-0, 2-1).

The matches will be broadcast live on the “Sport Plus Kazakhstan” channel.
