City of Osh Declares State of Emergency After Flooding

The city of Osh, located in Kyrgyzstan, has announced a state of emergency in response to erratic weather patterns triggered by heavy rainfall on May 18.

 The decision was reached during a meeting of the civil defense headquarters led by Mayor Bakytbek Zhetigenov.

City officials have stated that the emergency measures will remain in place until the aftermath of the flooding is resolved. Leaders of civil protection services, municipal agencies, and organizations, along with local authorities, have been assigned the responsibility of implementing comprehensive actions to address the consequences of the flood. These measures include the cleanup of affected areas, restoration of flood prevention systems, and monitoring the condition of drainage channels.
