China invited to explore hydroelectric project in Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyz authorities have invited Chinese energy experts to visit the country and assess the potential for building a hydroelectric power station.

This proposal was made by a Kyrgyz delegation, led by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev, during a visit to China’s “Three Gorges” hydroelectric plant, the largest of its kind globally, located in Hubei province.

The delegation, which included Kyrgyz Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev and other officials, discussed opportunities for Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation in the hydroelectric sector. Chinese engineers shared insights on the operations of the “Three Gorges” facility, which has a total capacity of 22,250 MW.
