Chevron plans to increase oil production to one million barrels per day in Kazakhstan, Chevron CEO Mike Wirth announced at the CERAWeek conference in Houston, United States, on March 6, Turanews.kz reports citing Kazinform.
Mike Wirth noted that Chevron was the first major investor in independent Kazakhstan who helped develop the country’s energy system for the benefit of the country and Chevron.
“Chevron is currently producing about 700 barrels per day and we have a new project that will bring this figure up to about 1 million barrels per day,” said Mike Wirth.
Currently, a large two-component hydrocarbon expansion project has moved from construction to commissioning in Kazakhstan, a process that will take this year and next year to bring all facilities into production.
According to Wirth, to increase production capacity is a must, as European countries are in high demand the energy nowadays.
