Hundreds of Muslims gathered Sunday at Chelsea FC home stadium Stamford Bridge for the first-ever open Ramadan iftar.

English Premier League club Chelsea hosted the first-ever iftar meal (fast-breaking) at their home stadium Stamford Bridge on March 26, a few days after the Muslim holy month of Ramadan starts, Turanews.kz reports.

Hundreds of Muslims gathered Sunday at Chelsea FC home stadium Stamford Bridge for the first-ever open Ramadan iftar. Thus, “Stamford Bridge” became the first stadium in the English Premier League to host an open banquet.

Chelsea legend Paul Canoville, who was the first Black player to play for the club, also attended the event.

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar. Each year for the holy month of Ramadan Muslims fast during daylight hours and then eat their first meal at dusk. The meal eaten when breaking the fast is called an Iftar.
