Central Asian Leaders meet with US President to discuss economic, security, and sustainable development cooperation

On September 20, the Heads of State of Central Asia met with US President Joseph Biden in New York for the C5+1 Summit, Turanews.kz reports.

The summit was held to discuss issues of joint work to further strengthen the sovereignty, stability, and prosperity of Central Asia through the C5+1 partnership in the field of economy, energy, and security.

In his speech at the summit, President Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, spoke of the importance of economic cooperation and the opportunities for American companies in such areas as the development of important minerals, renewable energy sources, and processing industry. He also emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in solving security problems, including cyber security, terrorism, violent extremism, illegal migration, and drug trafficking.

Kazakhstan is counting on the support of the United States in establishing the UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.

The C5+1 Summit is a significant opportunity for the United States and Central Asia to deepen their cooperation on a range of important issues. The summit’s focus on economic development, security, and sustainable development is particularly noteworthy, as these are areas where the United States and Central Asia have a shared interest in working together.
