
Vice Minister of Energy Bakhytzhan Ilyas stated that the primary focus is on launching joint research centers and enhancing the integration of renewable energy technologies. “As renewables take on a greater share, digital technologies play an increasingly critical role. China is leading globally in this area, and we’re placing strong emphasis on collaboration,” he said.
Key agreements include:
- A strategic partnership with POWERCHINA for localizing production, establishing a research center, and launching a decarbonization fund;
- A memorandum with China Southern Power Grid for cooperation in HVDC, digital energy, and pumped storage;
- A deal with Huawei Kazakhstan focused on digital transformation and cybersecurity in the energy sector;
- A contract with China Energy Overseas Investment for the “Sauran” solar power plant in Turkistan Region;
- A financing agreement between QazaqGaz and China Construction Bank for major energy projects;
- A feasibility study agreement with CNCECI for a gas processing plant capable of handling 2 billion cubic meters per year;
- A technology partnership with Sinopec for developing advanced petrochemical products;
- A trilateral cooperation deal with China Energy International and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in hydrogen technologies and scientific research.
Additionally, KEGOC Chairman Nabi Aitzhanov announced that Kazakhstan plans to add 32 GW of new power capacity by 2035.
