BYD Targets Production of 500,000 Cars in Uzbekistan by 2027
At the "Innoprom. Central Asia" exhibition in Tashkent, Deputy Director of BYD Uzbekistan Factory, Diyor Mukhamedov, unveiled ambitious plans for the company's future. BYD aims to ramp up its Uzbekistan operations to produce 500,000 electric and hybrid cars by 2027.
This announcement follows BYD’s previous commitment in September 2023 to establish a production facility in Uzbekistan for electric and hybrid vehicles.
Mukhamedov outlined their timeline, stating, “We plan to achieve this goal around 2026-2027.”
To realize this target, BYD is focusing on localizing production, with plans to increase it to 60%. Mukhamedov also hinted at potential avenues for expansion, mentioning the possibility of either modernizing existing facilities or constructing a new plant.
