The capital of Kazakhstan is once again gearing up to host a world-class tennis tournament. The ATP 250 Astana Open will take place from September 26 to October 3 at the national tennis center Beeline Arena, Turanews.kz reports citing the press service of KTF.
The tournament has already attracted a star-studded lineup, including:
- Alexander Bublik, the No. 1 player in Kazakhstan and world No. 25. Bublik won the ATP 500 tournament in Halle earlier this year.
- Stan Wawrinka, a three-time Grand Slam champion and Olympic gold medalist. Wawrinka has 19 ATP titles to his name.
- Dominic Thiem, a Grand Slam champion and former world No. 3. Thiem has 17 ATP titles.
- Sebastian Korda, a one-time junior Grand Slam champion and former world No. 1 in juniors. Korda is currently ranked No. 32 in the world.
The tournament’s prize money is US$1,017,860.
The Astana Open is a popular event in Kazakhstan, and it is expected to draw a large crowd this year. The tournament is also a good opportunity for Kazakh players to compete against some of the best tennis players in the world.
