Blinken Applauds Kazakhstan’s Global Leadership, Strengthening Ties with US
During the visit of Murat Nurtleu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, to Washington, discussions with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken underscored the advancing strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and the United States across political, trade, economic, and humanitarian domains, according to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Nurtleu emphasized Kazakhstan’s balanced foreign policy and highlighted the practical utilization of American technologies to leverage Kazakhstan’s transport, logistics, infrastructure, trade, and investment potential, bolstering bilateral trade which saw a notable 33% increase to reach $4 billion in the past year.
Both foreign affairs leaders commended cooperation in energy security, critical minerals, climate, and peacekeeping endeavors.
Blinken praised Kazakhstan’s steadfast commitment to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s comprehensive reform agenda, affirming the US’s readiness to support these reforms. Blinken emphasized, “the United States recognizes Kazakhstan’s true leadership on many global issues.”
Discussions also encompassed expanding the C5+1 dialogue and following up on agreements from the inaugural Summit of this format held in New York last September.
The parties agreed to sustain dialogue on the bilateral agenda going forward.
